Geethu's Kitchen - Unni's Tadka Three Dal

Ingredients
- one Onion Chopped
- 3 dried red chillies
- 3 tomato Cans
- 1 cup Cilantro stems chopped
- 3 Green Chillies
- 5 Cloves Garlic
- 1/2 cup Ginger chopped
- 5 Curry Patta
- One Big Pot
- Pre-soak dals 30 minutes
- 1 cup Toor Dal
- 1 cup Masoor Dal
- 1 cup Chana Dal
- One medium Pot
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup chopped Ginger
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 3 green chillies
- One small Pot
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon chilly powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon Kasuri methi
- 1 Tsp Salt
- For Tadka
- Oil
- 2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Asafoetida/ Hing
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 cup Cilantro stems chopped
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chilly powder
- 2 dried red chillies
- 2 tablespoon cilantro
Method:
- To make the Dal
- Pre-soak dals 30 minutes
- Mix all the 3 dals (tur dal, masoor dal and chana dal) together
- and rinse it well under running water.
- Turn on the Instant Pot in saute mode.
- Add Oil.
- add cumin seeds, chopped ginger , garlic, green chillies and turmeric powder.
- Saute for 30 seconds,
- Then add the onions and dried red chillies.
- Saute till the onions turn translucent.
- Add the tomatoes along with salt.
- Continue to saute till the tomatoes turn soft.
- Now add the spices like chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala, dal tadka masala, garam masala and crushed Kasuri methi.
- Mix and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add the rinsed lentils. Mix.
- Finally add 5 cups water.
- Hit cancel.
- Close the lid .
- Cook it for 10 minutes .
- Open the lid and stir in the lemon juice and cilantro.
- Add a cup of boiling water if the Dal is very thick.
- Using the ladle, mash the lentils lightly.
- For Tadka
- Temper Mustard Seeds
- Add hing
- add cumin seeds,
- then add Hing, dried red chillies, chopped cilantro stems, cilantro and Kashmiri chilly powder.
- Fry for 10 seconds.
