Geethu's Kitchen - Unni's Instant Pot Tomato Rasam

Ingredients

  1. One plate
  2. 1/2 onion , sliced

  3. One small Bowl
  4. 1/2 tsp Asafoetida

  5. One bowl
  6. 2 tsp Costco minced garlic

  7. 4 sprig curry leaves

  8. 2 can tomato diced

  9. Handful Cilantro to garnish

  10. One small Bowl
  11. 2 tsp Mustard seeds,
  12. 2 tsp Cumin seeds,
  13. 2 tsp Urad dal
  14. 15 black pepper corns ( use more if you like more pepper flavor)
  15. 3 whole Red chili

  16. One Medium bowl
  17. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder,
  18. 4 tsp Rasam powder powder,
  19. 3 tsp salt

  20. One small Bowl
  21. 2 Tbl Toor dal

Method:

  1. Select sauté
  2. add oil,
  3. 1/8 tsp Asafoetida
  4. 2 tsp Mustard seeds,
  5. 2 tsp Cumin seeds,
  6. 2 tsp Urad dal and
  7. 3 whole Red chili
  8. 15 black pepper corns ( use more if you like more pepper flavor)
  9. saute for 1 or 2 minutes.

  10. add
  11. 1/2 onion , sliced
  12. 2 tsp costco minced garlic
  13. 4 sprig curry leaves
  14. sauté for 2 minutes.

  15. Add 2 can tomato diced.
  16. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder,
  17. 4 tsp Rasam powder powder,
  18. 3 tspn salt to taste.

  19. Sauté for another minute

  20. add
  21. 1 cup Toor dal
  22. Water 10 cups or more.

  23. Cancel saute mode
  24. Pressure Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
  25. Natural pressure Release.
  26. Open the lid and garnish with chopped Cilantro.
