Geethu's Kitchen - Unni's Instant Pot Sambar

Ingredients

  1. For 1.5 cups instead of 2 cups: Adjust Sambhar powder (4.5 tsp), Tamarind (1.5 tsp)
    For 3 cups instead of 2 cups: Adjust Sambhar powder (8 tsp), Tamarind (2.5 tsp), 3 x14 oz cans diced tomatoes, 9 cups water


  2. A: Take Large Steel Bowl
  3. 2 or 3 Cups Toor Dal, and Clean

  4. Use opener to open one big 28 Ox can of Tomatoes +1 Can for 3 Cups

  5. B: Take small glass mug
  6. Warm water for 1 minute
  7. Place 1 /1/2 (2) tsp tamarind paste in 1 cup warm water



  8. C: One Medium Steel Bowl
  9. 2 Red chilies cut into 3 pieces,
  10. 4 Curry Patta strands
  11. 1 1/2 (2) tsp Mustard seeds

  12. D: One Medium Steel Bowl
  13. take 2 Jalapenos, cut into 6 pieces

  14. E: One small Steel Bowl
  15. 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  16. 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  17. 3 level tsp Salt
  18. 6 (8)tsp Sambhar Powder

  19. 1 Cup Measuring Cup

  20. 1 Plate for Spoon Rest

Method:

  1. Turn on Kitchen Vent

  2. SAUTE mode -

  3. 1 ladle (1/4 cup) oil,

  4. Add Contents of 'C' first medium Steel Bowl
  5. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  6. 2 red chilies cut into 3 pieces,
  7. 4 sprigs curry leaves

  8. continue Saute Mode

  9. 2 jalapenos cut into 6,

  10. 2 tsp tamarind paste in 1 cup warm water,

  11. 2 cups Toor dal,

  12. 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

  13. 1 tsp Chilli Powder

  14. 6 tsp Sambhar Powder

  15. 3 tsp Salt

  16. 2 Can x 14 oz diced tomatoes

  17. 6 cups water

  18. Turn SAUTE off

  19. DELAY START of 30 Minutes
  20. Pressure Cook on HIGH for 8 minutes

  21. Open and Gently Mash
