Geethu's Kitchen - Unni's Instant Pot Curd Rice (Thayir Sadam)

Ingredients

  1. One Large Bowl
  2. 3 Cups Rice Rinsed

  3. 3 and three-quarters(3/4) cups water

  4. One Small Bowl
  5. 1 tsp salt

  6. Yogurt 4 Cups
  7. Butter Milk 1 cup
  8. 1 cup water to rinse out yogurt jar

  9. One small bowl
  10. Mustard seeds – 2 heaped tsp
  11. Red Chillies, dried – 3
  12. Curry Leaves – 9 strands, chopped coarsely

  13. One small bowl
  14. Hing – 1 level tsp

  15. One medium big bowl
  16. 9 Green chillies – slit longitudinally and then chopped fine

  17. one small bowl
  18. 2 heaped tablespoons Ginger fresh cut

  19. One small bowl
  20. Urad Dal 1/2 tsp

Method:

  1. Saute Mode

  2. Add Mustard seeds,
  3. Add Red chillies (break in half) and
  4. Add Curry leaves

  5. Add the hing
  6. Stir well

  7. Add the ginger
  8. Fry lightly until brown

  9. Add the chopped green chillies
  10. Fry

  11. Cancel

  12. Add (rinsed,drained) Basmati rice
  13. and mix well.
  14. Then add 3 and three-quarters(3/4) cups water
  15. and 1 tsp salt

  16. - Pressure Cook on HIGH for 9 minutes.
  17. -- Delay Start 30 min)

  18. Open
  19. add 4 cups thick yogurt
  20. Add 1 cup Butter milk
  21. 1 cup water to rinse out yogurt jar
  22. (use 1 ladle to add yogurt
  23. and separate ladle to mix the curd rice)
